Renault Kwid is now available with driver side airbags, ABS, EBD, seat belt reminder for the driver and passenger along with speed alert system as standard.
Ahead of the implementation of new safety regulations, Renault India has updated its entry-level offering, the Kwid hatchback with the required safety equipment. From now on, right from the base variant onward, the Kwid will offer driver side airbags, ABS with EBD, driver and passenger seat belt reminder along with speed alert system.
In addition to offering these safety features as standard, Renault has also introduced Apple Car Play as well as Android Auto in the variants which get the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system was already available with GPS navigation, a rear parking camera and now also comes with voice command option along with video streaming through a USB port.

The interesting thing to note here is that the prices for the Renault Kwid remain the same despite the addition of this new safety and creature comforts. The base variant is still going to cost you INR 2.66 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-of-the-line trim is still going to cost INR 4.63 lakh.

The Renault Kwid is currently available with a choice of two engine options. One is a 0.8-litre unit capable of churning out 54 BHp of power along with 72 Nm of peak torque. The other is a 1.0-litre unit capable of churning out 67 BHP along with 91 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options for both the engines include a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, there is a 5-speed AMT unit also on offer on select variants.
With these prices and engine and transmission options, the Renault Kwid competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Tata Tiago.
