Renault has introduced a new RXL variant for the Kwid, which gets most of the features from the top-end trim for a cheaper price.
Renault recently reached a milestone of 3.5 Lakh units sold, for the Kwid. The hatch was launched back in 2015 and is still very popular for buyers looking for a car under Rs 5 Lakhs. To commemorate this milestone, Renault has introduced a new RXL variant which will be the second in line trim.
New Renault Kwid RXL variant gets the 1.0 Litre engine and is available with a MT as well as AMT. The MT variant is priced at Rs 4.16 Lakhs and the AMT variant goes for Rs 4.48 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The RXL variant was earlier available with the 0.8 L engine only which goes for RS 3.95 Lakhs.

This variant gets most of the bells and whistles that you see on the top-spec Climber variant. Features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rotary dial-type AMT gear shifter, LED instrument cluster, halogen headlamps, fog lamps, manual AC, one-touch lane change indicator and all four power windows.
Safety features include rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, seat belt reminder and speed alert system. The 1.0 Litre engine produces 69 PS and 91 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. The 800cc three-cylinder engine is good for 55 PS and 74 Nm of torque. The smaller engine comes with a 5-speed MT as standard.
The price range of Kwid starts off at Rs 2.95 Lakhs going up to Rs 5.07 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Maruti S-Presso, Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Santro, Datsun GO and Tata Tiago. The direct competitor for Kwid is the S-Presso which is another SUV-type styled hatchback.
