The Kwid 1.0 is only available in the top-end RxT and RxT(O) trims. They are costlier than the 800cc variants by about 20,000 – 30,000 Rupees. The entry level segments are very price sensitive, but even then spending twenty thousand extra is a worth it keeping the increase in power in mind.

Powering the Kwid is a new 1.0 L SCe Petrol mill. Power and torque figures are 67 bhp and 91 Nm respectively. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual, which will be joined by a 5-speed automatic (AMT) later on. The other variants get a 799cc petrol engine that makes 53 bhp of max power and 72 Nm of peak torque. Like the 1.0 variant, this one also gets a 5-speed manual transmission. However, it will not be getting the 5-speed AMT.

The only difference between the two variants of the Kwid is the kerb weight. Kwid’s 1000cc variant is heavier by 30 kg thanks to the bigger engine. Apart from that, the two are identical in every aspect.

The features list remains the same. Renault has not added any new features to the 1000cc Kwid apart from ‘Pro-Sense’ front seat belts that are fitted with pre-tensioners and load limiters.
Renault Kwid 1000cc vs Kwid 800cc Design Comparison
No significant changes have been made to the way the Kwid 1000cc looks. Kwid’s SUV-inspired exteriors have had a major role in the popularity of the car. The 1000cc variants do not get any major styling updates apart from additional decals and silver finish ORVMs. It gets the same SUV-like exteriors with beefy wheel arches, flat high set bonnet, and body cladding. We were expecting to see beefier tyres and alloys on the Kwid 1.0 but that has not been the case. Like the 0.8 L variant, the 1.0 L Kwid also gets a plethora of exterior customization options.
Like the exteriors, the interiors of the two variants are exactly the same. Buyers will surely be pleased with the spacious and practical cabin. The 1000cc variants will get a 5-speed AMT in the future. The gear selector knob for which will be placed next to the power window switches. The highlights of the Kwid’s interiors are the touchscreen infotainment system, digital speedo, and the 300 L boot.
Renault Kwid 1000cc vs Kwid 800cc Comparison – Verdict
If the only thing holding you back from putting your money down on the Renault Kwid was an underwhelming performance then the new Kwid 1.0 is just what you need. It gets the same good looking body, healthy features list as the 0.8 L variant with much better performance. However, if you’re on a tight budget then the cheaper 799cc Kwid should do just fine.
- Price – Renault Kwid 1000cc is more expensive than the 800cc by about 20,000-30,000 Rupees. That’s not a bad price to pay for enhanced performance.
- Specifications – Kwid 1.0 is more powerful by about 14 bhp and produces around 19 Nm more torque.
- Features – These two variants of the Kwid are identical in terms of features.
- Design – The only differences between the two are side decals and silver finish ORVMs. Everything else remains the same.
