Earlier this year, Nissan announced the commencement of export of the Magnite from India. Now, close on the heels of its not-so-distant sibling, the Renault Kiger will be shipped abroad from India as the local subsidiary of the French carmaker has announced the commencement of exports of the latest sub-4-metre SUV. With this, the first batch of 127 units of Kiger has been dispatched to Nepal. The carmaker also has plans of starting exports of the new model to SAARC countries.

The Renault Kiger has been available in two engine variants – 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both of these are three-cylinder units and the naturally aspirated version offers 72hp and 96Nm. The transmission variant of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. The turbo variant output a maximum power of 100hp and a peak torque of 160Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-step CVT. In all, there are as many as four trim levels on offer- RXE, RXL, RXT & RXZ. The Kiger will be retailed through the 15 dealerships of the In brand’s distributor – Advanced Automobiles Pvt Ltd, a part of Vaishali Group. There will be as many as 13 service outlets across the country.

Prices of the Renault Kiger for the Nepalese car market are yet to be announced. Meanwhile, in India, the Kiger is the newest sub-4-metre SUV available in the market and goes up against the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue. Prices of this B-SUV start at Rs 5.64 lakh for the base-level RXE 1.0-litre ENERGY MT trim. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line RXZ X-TRONIC (CVT) 1.0L Turbo dual-tone version is available at Rs 10.08 lakh (ex-showroom).
