Renault has just started in India as an independent car brand with its sedan Renault Fluence which has been launch in May 2011 in India. In one month of its official launch in India, Renault has sold over 250 units which is an encouraging number for a new launch in India. The major competitors for Fluence have been Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Laura and Honda Civic Sedan. With sales of Fluence at 250 cars, it has come quite considerable in numbers if compared to the sales of the competitors.
The Fluence has already sold in more numbers compared to the Honda Civic while it is yet at half or less than half the number of sales compared to the segment leaders like Chevy Cruze and Skoda Laura. The refreshed Corolla Altis 2011 will also be a big competition to Fluence in the coming months. At present, Renault has only 14 dealerships across India which will be increased to 40 by the end of year 2011 which will further help Renault reach more buyers and improve its sales.
Renault has already revealed its plans to launch 5 new cars before the end of 2012. Also by the end of 2012, company will increase its dealerships in India to a total of about 200 which will help Renault market and sell these cars in a better way. To give you a perspective, India’s second largest passenger car company, Hyundai India has about 324 dealerships in India, so a 200 dealership network for Renault means a good reach in Indian market.
