On April 3rd 2012, Renault launched the Fluence E4D diesel variant which is now the top end diesel variant in the Fluence variant line-up and features a more powerful diesel engine and class leading features. Definitely it was a great news for buyers who were attracted towards the car by its looks but did not buy the same because of the fact that it offered less features.
But what about buyers who think that even the E2 base diesel variant is not worth its price? Well Renault has come up with an interesting strategy and has launched the Renault Fluence Advantage Diesel E2. The Ambition variant is nothing but a cheaper limited edition model of the ongoing model and is priced at a very attractive Rs. 11.99 lakhs.

Renault Fluence Advantage E2 is powered by a 1.5 litre dCI diesel engine that delivers 105 BHP of max power and 240 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled to a 6 speed manual transmission and offers an impressive ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 21.8 KMPL. This engine is 2 BHP less powerful and 1.4 KMPL more efficient than the engine being offered with the top end E4 Diesel variant.
Obviously at such a price the company cannot offer all the class leading features and hence the features that you don’t get with E2D Renault Fluence Advantage are as follows:
- Rain sensing wipers
- Chrome interiors
- Leather upholstery
- Dual zone automatic climate control
- Rear AC vents
- Rear parking sensors
- Cruise control & speed limiter
- Electrically foldable ORVMs
- Bluetooth
- USB port
- Side chest level airbags
NOTE: To remind you once again, these are the features that are not present in the Renault Fluence Advantage variant.
Compared to other cars of Fluence’s segment such as Skoda Laura, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla Altis, its sales have been the lowest during the period of January to March 2012. The dealership and aftersales service network is yet to be established properly, so we believe despite offering a cheaper variant now, it will take a while before Renault picks up a good sales pace.
