Renault has been testing the Arkana on the Indian roads for a while now and the first model has been spotted without camouflage.
The Renault Arkana coupe SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads for a while now. However, we encountered it without the heavy camouflage. In fact, it has been registered and bears a TN number plate. Arkana is based on the CMF-B platform that Renault is heavily localising. Note that this is the same platform that underpins the 3rd-gen Duster. Duster already tasted success in our market a few years ago. In fact, it was responsible for the popularity of the compact SUV segment in India. Arkana could bring the option of a coupe-SUV to the buyers without having to burn a hole through their pockets.

Renault Arkana SUV Spied in India
This video has been uploaded by Raftaar 7811 on YouTube. In the video, someone driving on the road captures a Renault Arkana driving sans camo. What is fascinating is the fact that it has been registered by someone and is not a test mule. This hints that the French carmaker might be planning to launch it in the market. The rear profile visible in the video looks quite attractive with the connected LED taillamps, sporty bumper, dual-exhaust tips finished in chrome and sloping roofline.

Inspired by the likes of the BMW X6, Arkana features a coupe silhouette that is not all that prevalent in the Indian market. Taking reference from the international model, the coupe SUV measures 4,568 mm in length, 2,034 mm in width, and 1,576 mm in height and has a wheelbase of a healthy 2,720 mm. Additionally, it features LED headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs, 18-inch elegant alloy wheels, portrait-oriented infotainment screen, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered and heated front seats, Bose Sound System, Hands-free parking and more.

What We Think
In this era of SUVs, almost every segment of our market has been taken over by them. However, the coupe-style is still limited to high-end cars. With the Arkana, however, we might see a slightly more affordable version of this body shape. Sure, it won’t be cheap like the mid-size SUVs, but it won’t be as expensive as a BMW either. Also, it could be powered by a strong hybrid engine just like in the international model. That will also lead to increased prices. It would be fair to assume that it will be the flagship model from Renault in India, if and when it launches.
