Maruti Suzuki has recalled a small number of units of the Maruti Suzuki A-Star, Swift, Swift Dzire and Ertiga citing problems with the steering column installed in those cars. A total of 1492 units have been recalled, of which there are 13 units of the A-Star, 592 units of the Swift, 581 units of the Swift Dzire and 306 units of the Ertiga. The cars were manufactured during the period from 19th October 2013 to 26th October 2013. Maruti has not clarified if the problem is serious, but since it pertains to the steering column of the car, owners are requested to use caution.
Owners of the cars mentioned above can check if their cars have been affected by either going to Maruti’s recall page and entering their chassis number, call up Maruti’s call-centre or call up their nearest dealership. If the steering column on the affected cars is found to be defective, the dealership will change the whole unit free of cost.
