While there were a gazillion rumours on the prices of the Compass, we finally have the official price list with us today. As you can see in the tables above, prices of the Jeep Compass start at Rs 14.95 lakh. The top-end model costs Rs 20.65 lakh. Thanks to such a competitive price tag, the Compass comes across as a value-for-money proposition. It seems like 65% localization and the new GST structure has helped Jeep India price the Compass really competitively. Prices of the new model undercut that of the rivals by a big margin.
Jeep started its Indian innings with the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. However, both these models came with rather exorbitant price tags and in spite of being hugely capable machines, couldn’t do much good to Jeep’s sales performance. Also, thanks to being positioned in the luxury SUV segments, these two models were never meant to garner really high number of sales. The Compass, on the other hand, is positioned in the much more mainstream section of India’s car market. And with a competitive price tag like this, it does look like it will be able to bring in many new customers under the Jeep umbrella.
