While the Triumph Speed 400 has been around for quite some time now, the RE Guerrilla 450 is the newest entrant into our market.
I came across an interesting drag race between the RE Guerrilla 450 and Triumph Speed 400 recently. These are similar motorcycles in the sense that they cater to those who like to go on long highway rides. On one hand, the Guerrilla 450 utilizes the same engine as the Himalayan 450. Hence, it is a powerful new mill. On the other hand, the Triumph Speed is also relatively new in our market. For now, let us take a look at the details of who comes out on top in this competition.

This video comes from The UP46 Rider on YouTube. The vlogger has two motorcycles side by side. For the first round, the YouTuber takes the Triumph Speed 450, while his companion rides the RE Guerrilla 450. On the count of three, the two riders accelerate hard. The Guerrilla 450 takes the lead from the beginning and stays ahead for the entire race. The Speed 400 didn’t get any chance to overtake it since it hit the limiter at around 165 km/h. To maintain consistency of results and eliminate errors pertaining to the riders, they swapped the bikes for the second round. Again, the Guerrilla 450 took the lead from the beginning and remained ahead throughout. Hence, the Guerrilla 450 was the unequivocal winner of this drag race.

Both these bikes are comparable when it comes to the engines. The RE Guerrilla 450 possesses a 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC 4-valve Sherpa engine which generates a healthy 40.02 PS @8,000 RPM and 40 Nm @5,500 RPM of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate and slip-and-assist clutch with ride-by-wire technology. The steel tubular frame uses the engine as a stressed member. If you wish to get your hands on one, you have to shell out between Rs 2.39 lakh and Rs 2.54 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Triumph Speed 400 comes with a 398-cc liquid-cooled 4V DOHC fuel-injected single-cylinder engine which generates a healthy 40 PS @8,000 RPM and 37.5 Nm @6,500 RPM of peak power and torque. Even it gets the 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch with slip & assist. It has a price tag of Rs 2.24 lakh, ex-showroom.

Drag race competitions have become the norm among YouTubers to test the straight-line acceleration of cars and bikes in recent times. I have been reporting such instances for a while now. This RE Guerrilla 450 vs Triumph Speed 400 is a prime example of that. However, I must mention that you should not get involved in such stunts on your own. YouTubers often take a lot of precautions behind the scenes. You must not make the mistake of imitating them.
