For December 2018, Royal Enfield Classic 350 has made more sales than Hero Passion and Bajaj CT 100 commuter motorcycles.
The sales chart for December 2018 is here. For this particular month, many high-performing motorcycles have taken a toll. However, one news has come as a shock.
Royal Enfield Classic 350 has overtaken popular commuter motorcycles, Bajaj CT 100 and Hero Passion to capture the 6th rank in the top-10 selling motorcycles list for December 2018.
In December, Classic 350 has made sales of 34,325 units, opposed to CT 100 at 30,743 units and Passion at 29,614 units. Classic is also placed above Apache and Hero Glamour. Apache stands at 26,338 units and Glamour at 25,377 units.

Interestingly for the month of November 2018, Hero Passion made sales of 74,000 units, nearly double of Classic 350. Bajaj CT 100 sold 59,000 units. Royal Enfield motorcycle stood at 39,025 units.
Sales of Bajaj CT 100 have dipped by nearly 85% when compared it with the sales for November 2018. Hero Passion has seen a dip of nearly 150% in the monthly-sales comparison.
As in case of Classic 350, there has been a decrease of mere 15% in monthly sales. In the stable of Royal Enfield, every model has seen a considerable decrease in the sales.
We all know that Royal Enfield motorcycles and Bajaj CT 100 and Hero Passion are way different from each other. Bajaj and Hero are 100-110cc commuter motorcycles, priced under Rs 60,000. Classic 350 is a pure premium motorcycle with prices starting at Rs 1.39 Lakhs.

We believe the main reason for this difference is the acceptance of premium motorcycles in households. Recently, people have started showing interest in bikes costing above Rs 1 Lakh.
A bike like Royal Enfield is useful for long tours, long distance commutes as well as the city touring. Another fancy thing about the bike is its trademark exhaust note, which actually a lot of people adore.
With on-road prices under Rs 2 Lakhs, easy EMI options, improving lifestyle and some other factors are responsible for this. Recently, RE introduced Zero-finance EMI as an option.
Now, Royal Enfield motorcycles are updated with dual-channel ABS too. Bajaj CT 100 and Hero Passion will soon get Combi-Braking System as mandatory safety feature soon.

The reach of CT 100 and Passion is more in Tier-II cities and rural areas. In urban areas, lifestyle vehicles are slowly increasing.
