A brand new Mahindra XUV700 emits huge smoke as the family runs to safety. Despite great demand, the troubles with Mahindra XUV700 don’t seem to end.
The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the most popular SUVs in the country. It received more than 70,000 bookings within the first month of launch. However, the mid-size SUV has been facing long waiting periods (extending up to September 2023). Now, several reports of the Mahindra XUV700 have started emerging. Several customers who have received the new SUV have faced problems with their vehicles. Now, a first owner has shared his troubles with Mahindra XUV700 which raises big questions over the car’s safety. Let’s take a closer look:

The above-mentioned incident happened on 14th January 2022. The owner decided to take their brand new SUV on a short trip of 60km. However, it did not go well. During the trip, the new Mahindra XUV700 stopped two-three times at the red light. The owner struggles with the gear function and could not interchange from third gear to first gear or second gear. The next day, as soon the owner took the car out of the parking area, heavy smoke emerged from the vehicle and spread around a 50km radius. There was a burning smell as well. The whole family (including a six-month-old) rushed to the nearest service center. The owner also added that the car showed no safety alarm or warning during the whole process.

The Mahindra XUV700 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit that offers a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Whereas the Diesel engine outputs 155 PS/ 360 Nm in the lower versions and 185 PS/ 420 Nm (450 Nm in automatic variant) in the higher positioned models. Both the petrol and diesel engine variants come with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices. Additional features on the SUV include Smart Door Handles, built-in Alexa integration, Intelligence AdrenoX, a 3D Sound System with 12 speakers, and more.

Despite all the problems, the price of the infamous SUV is also increasing every day. As per recent price charts, the Mahindra XUV700 has become up to 1.15 lakh costlier in the last 4 months. Originally, the vehicle’s price started at Rs 11.99 lakh, ex-showroom. As of 10th January, the base Petrol model is available at Rs 12.96 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the top-end Diesel model now costs Rs 23.80 lakh. The Mahindra XUV700 competes with the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar. in the 7-seat configurations.
