Kia EV9 was showcased as a concept at the 2021 LA Auto Show and garnered massive interest from audiences and industry experts alike.
The production version of the Kia EV9 luxury electric SUV has been spied recently and the debut is likely to take place this year. It represents the best of what Kia has to offer in terms of the future of mobility. This is confirmed by the exquisite and modern styling on the exterior and the use of recycled materials and cutting-edge technology on the inside. Based on the dedicated E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) all-electric architecture, the EV9 will be Kia’s first 7-seat electric SUV. Production Kia EV9 Spied
The video has been posted by cochespias1 and wilcoblok on Instagram. It shows a green/turquoise EV9 doing test runs on public roads. Comparing it to the concept model that was showcased by Kia, there are subtle differences. However, it must be appreciated that Kia has been able to bring a lot of the concept into this production model. The changes include a toned down front and rear bumper. While the concept version features rugged and bling elements on both bumpers, the production-spec, expectedly, has decided to go with a much more conventional design.

Apart from that, the overall silhouette remains the same and the striking modern elements like the C-shaped LED DRLs, modern headlamp clusters and closed-off grille area have been carried over from the concept, something that people would like. Another aspect that is different is the side mirror design. The concept version had the digital camera as the ORVM but the production version has been equipped with a more traditional setup. Finally, the alloy wheels have taken a much practical look compared to the concept model.

In terms of specifications, the concept EV9 measures 4,930 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width and 1,790 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm and boasts a range of around 300 miles (483 km). It could be powered by a 77 kWh battery but that might be a bit small to power such a large SUV. Apart from that, there will be 2WD and 4WD configurations on offer. The charging architecture will support a DC ultra-fast system of 350 kW that could top up the battery from 10-80% in just 20-30 mins. More details shall be revealed closer to the debut this year.
