Although the official NCAP rating of the Tata Safari is not confirmed, its accidents have been depicting some encouraging signs.
In a bizarre set of events, a pillar weighing tonnes recently fell on the roof of Tata Safari. This accident took place somewhere in Gujarat. Tata has received a ton of accolades over the last few years for its immense focus on safe cars in India. It has the most number of 5-star and 4-star cars in its lineup. Safari has not been official crash-tested by NCAP by a few instances indicate towards strong build quality and tough body panels. The OMEGARC platform of the Safari is based on the D8 platform from Land Rover which is already a great attribute in terms of safety.

Pillar Falls on Tata Safari
This video has been uploaded by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel where he keeps bringing such videos to raise awareness among people regarding the capabilities of popular vehicles. This video shows some heavy equipment that has fallen on the SUV from a truck. The visuals are quite disturbing. However, surprisingly, no one was injured in this accident. There is significant damage to the body of the SUV including windshields, roof and side panel. But the roof didn’t collapse entirely. This is a testament to the build quality of the Safari. In some of the previous instances too, Safari has shown impressive performances which also explains why it enjoys healthy sales figures.

Tata Safari comes with the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine making 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. There is the option of either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The prices of the Safari range from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 23.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The design was inspired by the bold and modern Harrier. This had proven to be a great challenge for the MG Hector Plus to overcome. However, with the arrival of Mahindra XUV700, the segment has been taken by a storm. Now, the XUV700 is the segment leader with the Safari not too far behind.
