We keep witnessing incredibly stupid acts on our roads daily and this latest crash of a passenger in a Maruti Gypsy in the off-road adventure is another addition to that list. Off-roading is quite popular, particularly among the youngsters these days. More carmakers are beginning to cater to this niche segment. The most recent SUV to arrive in India in this segment is the Maruti Jimny. It is among the most recognised and capable lightweight off-roaders on the planet. Gypsy was the second-generation version of the Jimny. The latest 5-door model marks the 4th-gen version. Let us take a look at the details of this latest incident.

Passenger Falls in Off-Road Stunt in Maruti Gypsy
This post comes from chandrasenpawar on Instagram. It captures a rather horrifying video. A Gypsy with an open rear section is being driven violently inside a water stream. Now, there are a lot of Gypsy owners who perform such activities with their Gypsys on a daily basis. However, what is bizarre and stupid is the fact that there is a person sitting in the rear seat of the open Gypsy. Now, getting across such terrains requires momentum so that the vehicle doesn’t get stuck in the water. Therefore, strong movement of the car is normal.

Toward the last section of this video, the movement becomes so prominent that it throws the man out of the car in the air. He lands on the side of the vehicle barely missing getting squeezed under its rear tyre. He falls into the water. The bystanders immediately rush to attend to him and ensure to get him to safety. Further details about the injuries to this man are not available. Nonetheless, this is a perfect example to witness how easily things could go wrong if idiotic stunts are performed without proper care and caution.

What We Think
We lose lakhs of lives each year in road crashes. The most common reason among these is the refusal to follow traffic regulations. This is also a similar story. Performing stunts is not a great idea for the safety of the individuals or the vehicle. While an SUV like the Gyps is designed for off-roading adventures, we must draw a line somewhere as to how hardcore the off-roading adventure can get. Driving cars uselessly in water streams is not recommended. Therefore, let us pledge to be responsible drivers and ensure that no one attempts such careless acts around us.
