In a horrific turn of events, a parked Kia Seltos caught fire and got reduced to ashes. Seltos is a popular mid-size SUV that sells in decent numbers in our market. After the mighty Hyundai Creta, the Seltos ranks among the top-selling mid-size SUVs in India. A mechanical twin of the Creta, the Seltos clearly enjoys a pretty high fan-following. Parked Kia Seltos Catches Fire
The video has been uploaded by Nikhil Rana on YouTube. This channel keeps posting content around the performances of popular cars during unlucky instances and road safety. This time, a case has been registered where an owner claims that her Seltos caught fire when parked. The video captures the SUV engulfed in flames coming out of the bonnet. It is quite surprising to witness a parked vehicle catching fire. When the fire brigade arrived, the SUV was already reduced to ashes.

In this case, the vehicle was parked out in the open. That is what makes us worry about this entire case. Still, we would advise our readers to avoid adding non-authorized accessories to their vehicles. While it doesn’t guarantee a snag, it is better to be safe than sorry. Apart from that, we can only hope that the reason behind the incident is found out. Also, claiming insurance in such cases can be tricky.

Not Caused by Electronic Failure
This is not a recent incident but one where the owner had applied for an insurance claim to buy a new vehicle. However, the process has been delayed due to the formalities. Kia has given an official report stating that the fire was not caused by any electronic failure. This makes us wonder if the car was equipped with aftermarket add-ons that could have caused a short-circut. We feel such incidents must be investigated thoroughly so that the exact cause can be ascertained and proper corrective action can be taken.
