Tata Motors launching the Tiago EV is creating waves around the industry and even foreign media is covering it.
Pak media covered the launch of the Tata Tiago EV and was left thoroughly impressed by its price. Tiago was already a popular hatchback in the country. It is the only 4-star safety-rated car in its segment. Its consistent sales despite competing against the mighty Maruti Swift proves that people are beginning to give preference to safer cars. Being priced in the Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh bracket, it provided an ideal platform for the company to try to get an EV under around this price point based on the Tiago. Tata Motors has been successful in achieving that.

Pak Media Covers Tata Tiago EV Launch
As per the Pak media house Techjuice, the price of the Tiago is around 22 lakh – 33 lakh in Pakistan currency. The petrol hatchbacks in the country like the Kia Picanto and Suzuki Cultus (Alto). This indicates just how far we have come in the EV space that cars are being sold at almost a comparable price to an IC-powered vehicle. It is the greater goal of the industry across the world to bring the prices in the vicinity of the regular petrol and diesel-powered cars. With the Tiago, Tata Motors has taken a giant step toward that ambitious goal.

Tata Tiago EV
The Tiago EV is the first electric car in the segment in India. It comes powered by two battery pack options – a 19.2 kWh and a 24 kWh. Both these batteries are IP67 rated making them water and dust-resistant. The Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC)-certified range for the Tiago EV is 315 km with the bigger battery and 250 km with the smaller unit. The battery and motor come with 8 years or 1,60,000 km warranty. Based on Tata’s Ziptron Technology, the EV produces 74 hp (55 kW) and 114 Nm of peak power and torque.

The acceleration time from 0-60 km/h is just 5.7 seconds. The Tiago EV is rated as a 4-star safety-rated car which is great. The charging time using a DC fast charger is just 57 mins for 10-80% and a range of 110 km comes up in just 30 mins. The bookings commence from October 10 onward with an amount of Rs 21,000. The introductory prices range from Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.79 lakh, ex-showroom. These prices are applicable for the first 10,000 customers.
