Tug of war instances are becoming more and more common these days to judge the capabilities of two cars.
In the latest tug of war competition, the old Mahindra Thar goes up against the new model. Tug of war is a common way for YouTubers to test the capabilities and raw power of any two cars. However, before we go into the details of this event, we must advise our readers to never get indulged in such cases for your own safety, as well as the safety of your car. Thar is the most successful off-roader in the country. Let us see whether the new Thar has what it takes to overpower the old model.

Old Mahindra Thar vs New Model – Tug of War
This video comes from Aditya Tyagi on YouTube. The vlogger has the two SUVs side by side. The team has chosen an isolated location with a sandy surface. They tie the rear ends of the Thars using a thick rope. On the count of three, the two drivers accelerate hard. Firstly, they are in 4×2 configuration. None of the SUVs moves. For the subsequent rounds, the drivers switch to 4Lo. In these instances, the driver of the old Thar started before the countdown and emerged victorious. In fact, in one of the rounds, the driver of the new Thar was struggling to conduct the race. That is when another YouTuber came and won the race. Finally, the old Thar took home the cake. I must mention here that these rounds were not accurate on many counts. Hence, you must take the final result with a grain of salt.
Specs
The new Mahindra Thar comes with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol, a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel (exclusively for the RWD trim) engine. The power and torque outputs stand at 150 hp / 300 Nm, 130 hp / 300 Nm and 115 hp / 300 Nm, respectively. There are options of choosing between either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The higher trims offer the 4×4 configuration. The previous generation Thar had a 2.5-litre turbo diesel mill which generated 105 hp and 247 Nm of peak power and torque. It had a 5-speed manual transmission which powered all four wheels. Hence, the new Thar has a distinct advantage over the old model.

Author’s Note
I have reported innumerable tug of war instances in the past. While it is great fun for the viewers, I must advise my readers to never imitate the content creators. One can never know the true intentions behind such videos. One thing I can assure you is that the vehicles are bound to sustain long-term damage if such activities are performed regularly. In fact, even this video shows the old Thar emitting smoke. These are never good signs. Hence, I suggest you just enjoy these stunts in the videos but never do them yourself.
