Check out the impressive build quality of old Hyundai i20 as it toppled at a speed of 120 km/hr after its suspension broke off.
Hyundai Elite i20, when tested in the global NCAP crash tests, received a 3-star safety rating. The rating seems decent and at that time, it only got six airbags for the top-end variants. The recently launched i20 has not been tested but also gets six airbags and advanced usage of steel, which will result in better safety of the passengers. Here is the first generation Hyundai i20 that recently went through a huge accident. The owner/driver was travelling at a high speed of 120 km/hr when the suspension of the car suddenly broke. The reason for suspension coming off is not known, but as seen the road conditions of India, we can assume that it was due to the potholes.

The owner might have gone over a pothole at high speed, when the suspension broke. Following which, the car toppled three times and hit a footpath. The owner was driving the car himself and survived this huge crash without any scratches. If you see, even the car is less damaged than what we expected.
The bonnet has come off and the front portion of the roof has crumpled. The front grille and bumper has come off from the socket, but thankfully, the damage has not reached the engine bay. The pillars, most crumple zones and alloy wheels are still intact, no damage to them at all. Just some heavy scratches on the doors.
The older i20 was built on a heavy platform and came with four airbags as standard, similar to the global version. The 2020 Hyundai i20 is expected to carry on the same safety standards, as it comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera, 66% more advanced steel and Hill Assist Control.
