The cases of Ola electric scooters catching fire just don’t stop as we have another victim in an S1 Pro. Ola has been struggling with innumerable cases of fires for a long time now. We have reported multiple such cases. Note that we understand that this might not be as frequent as one would imagine. Still, it is our duty to report such cases. Ola is one of the biggest electric two-wheeler companies in the country. It is responsible for commencing this electric revolution. Now, other startups and legacy manufacturers have also joined the race. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
Ola S1 Pro Catches Fire
The details of this post emerge from yashbharat_news on Instagram. It captures an interview of a news house with the affected party. The man in the video is the owner of the Ola S1 Pro. He explains that his brother was riding the electric scooter and he was sitting pillion. Suddenly, a truck driving around them cautioned them about the smoke coming out of the EV. They parked the scooter on the side of the road and saw flames come out of the scooter. Within a matter of seconds, the entire electric scooter was engulfed in flames.
He mentions that once the cells started bursting, they moved away from the fire and quit any attempts at dousing the flames. That is prudent in order to ensure your own health and well-being. In such situations, people often get carried away with emotions. But it is critical to know that your own safety should be your top priority. If you are easily able to control the fire, then it is fine. Otherwise, you must stay away from the scene. EV fires have different characteristics in comparison to regular automobile fires. Hence, traditional methods like sprinkling water or sand don’t generally work here. Therefore, you must keep that in mind.
Previous Recent Incidents
Unfortunately for Ola, there have been a handful of fire cases with electric scooters in the last couple of months. In one case from Chhattisgarh, an Ola electric scooter caught fire while charging at midnight. It led to the destruction of a two-story building and two other scooters. The occupants managed to escape with minor injuries. Similarly, an electric scooter’s battery was being charged by a man in his home in a separate incident. It caught fire while charging. The man and his mother escaped without injuries. All these incidents are pretty alarming and pose a hindrance to the mass adoption of EVs.
