With the help of FAME-II scheme, the prices of Okinawa electric scooters have gone down by up to Rs 26,000. i-Praise and Ridge+ electric scooters get the benefit.
Okinawa Motors has now been recognized under the FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacture of hybrid and Electric vehicles) scheme. As a result, the manufacturer can now claim for certain subsidies.
Electric two-wheelers or four-wheelers will receive subsidies if 50% or more local parts are used in the vehicle. If a certain EV gets approval from this scheme, the prices will be reduced to a great extent.
Okinawa is the first EV manufacturer to get approved under the FAME-II scheme. Other rules to get approved include the use of lithium-ion battery pack, top speed of 40 km/hr and riding range of 80 kms on full charge.
