This is the second such incident reported in a matter of days where an oil-filled tanker met with an accident on a highway.
In an unfortunate incident, an oil tanker met with an accident which led to a fire in a village in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh (MP). We know that the fuel is carried in tankers and transported across various parts of the country. However, in one such case, a horrific crash occurred in the wee hours at around 5:40 AM on October 27. The reason for this crash is still unknown. It could be the fact that the driver lost control in a corner and the tanker toppled over.

Oil Tanker Fire in MP
As per the information in the video by Transport TV on YouTube, the local villagers try to collect the fuel from a tanker lying on the road in their utensils. Recognising the value of petrol and diesel, many locals try to collect as much oil as possible. However, around 20 mins later, the tanker exploded. The massive boom engulfed a lot of people causing the death of an 18-year-old on the spot and leaving around 23 people grievously injured and burnt.

The villagers took these people to the nearby hospital immediately. They reported that most of them suffered 80-90% burns while the others have over 50% burns. This indicates how close they were to the tanker at the time of the explosion. The driver is reportedly missing from the scene. However, the locals informed that he warned the villagers to not come near the tanker or use mobile phones for the risk of an explosion.

Lack of Awareness and Greed
However, since no one paid heed to the advisory by the driver, they are facing the consequences of that. The Police arrived at the scene at around 7:15 AM. They said that they were informed about the entire accident only at around 6:45 AM. This simply reflects the disregard for the warning by the driver which could be attributed to a sheer lack of awareness and greed on the part of villagers. They just had one thought in their mind that they could make some quick buck at the expense of this accident. What are your thoughts on the matter?
