A non-resident Indian test-drove a Mahindra XUV700 in Australia and shared his experience online. Mahindra exports the XUV700 and Scorpio N from India to Down Under. In fact, Australia is slowly becoming a huge market for the Indian auto giant. Its SUVs are doing great on the sales charts. They are challenging the heavyweights that have dominated this space for decades. This includes products like the Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero, etc. Obviously, the Mahindra SUVs offer significantly better affordability. For now, let us take a look at the details of this case.
NRI Test Drives Mahindra XUV700 in Australia
We are able to experience this incident courtesy of Lovleen Vats on YouTube. The NRI starts the video by announcing to the viewers that he is visiting a Mahindra dealership in Australia along with his wife. The duo is evidently excited about checking out the XUV700. The vlogger mentions that he has never driven a Mahindra before even in India. Since they are looking for a new SUV, they are starting with the XUV700. As soon as they reach the dealership, they witness the SUV in the flesh for the first time ever in so many paint shades. They enter the cabin and are thoroughly impressed by what they see.
The host mentions that the interior feels extremely luxurious. The fit and finish, the colour combination and the top-notch materials used inside the cabin ooze opulence. Soon thereafter, his wife takes a test drive of the XUV700, while he sits in the back. While on the road, he mentions that the acceleration of the SUV is quite brisk. Moreover, the passengers barely feel the bumps and undulations of the road. Hence, the suspension setup is quite impressive. All in all, they are thoroughly impressed by the Indian SUV. Still, they will test drive a couple more SUVs in this segment to make up their mind about which one they will end up buying.
Our View
It swells our chests with pride to see the Indian carmaker doing so well on foreign soil. Sure, Mahindra is one of the biggest carmakers in India. But to get validation from international customers and markets is a matter of celebration. That is a testament to the fact that Indian cars are good enough to compete at the highest level against the giants of the industry with decades of legacy. Going forward, we expect more made-in-India cars to be exported to many international markets including Australia.
