Norton Dominator and Norton Commando India Debut Takes Place. Launch to Happen Soon. Will Come via CKD Route
Indian two-wheeler company, Kinetic Engineering, and British motorcycle maker, Norton Motorcycle Company, have come together to launch two motorcycles in India. The Norton Dominator and Norton Commando, which have just been unveiled to the media, will launch in coming months. We also hope to see these bikes at the Auto Expo 2018. Both these motorcycles have a highly retro design and feature the same engine. Price of the Dominator is likely to be higher than the Commando owing to the higher number of features. Specifications of both the motorcycles will be pretty much the same.

Well, the motorcycle aficionados would know that Norton is a much revered British motorcycle brand known for its racing heritage. It was founded by James Lansdowne Norton way back in 1898. On the other hand, Kinetic Engineering is still remembered for the ‘Kinetic Honda’ automatic scooters. The Indian company will be now responsible for retailing the Norton Dominator and Norton Commando in India. These motorcycles will be initially brought to our shores via CBU route. CKD assemble should commence by end-2018. However, the company will launch CBU versions in next three months. These will be special editions, imported completely built in the UK.

Norton Dominator and Norton Commando India Specifications
Both the new motorcycles come with a 961cc air-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel twin engine that produces a maximum power of 79 bhp along with a peak torque of 90 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, which transfers all the power to the rear wheel via O-ring chain. Both the motorcycles get 43 mm Black-line Ohlins USD front forks. The Commando gets Ohlins twin shock-absorbers with a remote reservoir at the rear. The Dominator offers an Ohlins TTX 36 mono shock with a remote reservoir. The new Kinetic Norton motorcycles in India get twin Brembo 320 mm fully-floating high-carbon stainless steel disc brakes with 4-piston Mobobloc radially mounted caliper at front. At the rear, the Dominator and the Commando get a Brembo 220mm disc with a 2 piston caliper setup.
