Toyota Fortuner-Rival Nissan Terra – Exterior

From the outside, one gets greeted by an imposing front fascia with a split-LED headlamp cluster, LED DRLs, a prominent grille with chrome inserts and a large Nissan logo, a stylish fog lamp cluster, a rugged skid plate, a sporty bumper and an upright bonnet. On the sides, there are elegant 18-inch alloys, side steps for easier ingress and egress, roof rails, black B and C pillars, metallic fender elements and chrome door handles. At the rear, we get a shark fin antenna, roof-mounted spoiler, split-LED taillamps with a black glass bar connecting them, and a rugged skid plate to lend a sporty presence.

On the inside, the cabin looks quite premium with high-quality materials. There is a black and maroon colour theme for the interior including on the dashboard and door panels. Then there is a part-digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment display with smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, tons of USB ports, ADAS with radars and sensors, a 360-degree camera, premium 8-speaker Bose music system, electric seat adjustment for driver, flat-bottom steering with multimedia controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, electronic power brake, 4×4 controls, reclining rear seats, a screen for the rear passengers and more.

Powering this 4.9 m long SUV is a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine which generates a healthy 190 hp and 450 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine comes with an automatic transmission powering all four wheels. The ground clearance is an impressive 225 mm and the wheelbase is around 2.9 m. It ensures that there is plenty of space for the rear passengers. Talking about the prices, as per the currency exchange rates, it retails in Indonesia at around Rs 40 lakh. Bringing it to India will attract over 100% import duties. But it would be interesting to have such SUVs in our market to challenge the dominance of the Fortuner.
