Nissan till now has not able to mark its prints in the Indian automobile market when it comes to sales volumes. Even with some very potential products such as Nissan Micra, Nissan Teana and Nissan Sunny which is doing comparatively better than other Nissan cars in India, the company has received rather lukewarm response. And now the Japanese car maker has decided to introduce it D segment car Nissan Sylphy to Indian by 2014.
Indian car market has seen some very drastic changes in the past and is still a developing market. The demand for luxury sedans has increased by a large margin and almost every car manufacturer in India has something to offer in this segment. Now Nissan has decided to enter the segment with Nissan Sylphy. Nissan reveled its executive global sedan in 2012 Beijing auto show and immediately became the talk of the show.
Talking a look at the styling we must say Nissan has done a marvelous piece of work, from every angle it looks like a segment killer. With Teana inspired grill, heart stealing cuts and curves and the LED work on the headlights and tail lamps, makes Sylphy an attractive yet elegant sedan. Dual zone air conditioner, key less entry, airbags, steering mounted controls are some features and according to Nissan the leg room in rear as well front is comparatively which will make it roomier than the rivals. Nissan also mentioned that the quality of products used in the interiors such as plastic and wooden trim on the interiors is much superior to the other sedans in the segment.
Nissan has chosen 1.8 petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines to power the Nissan Sylphy the 1.5 litre diesel is similar in the Renault Fluence which produces 108bhp, although Nissan Sylphy will tune the engine differently. The Nissan Sylphy is expected to introduce in the 12-14 lakh bracket and will rub shoulder with Volkswagen Jetta, Renault Fluence, Honda Civic, Skoda Laura, Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Cruze. Hyundai has also revised its plan regarding the launch of it Elantra. With all such luring vehicles market will surely heat up and will be interesting to see who wins the battle.
