Nissan on 16 July introduced to the world it’s all new Nissan Note in a special event held in Yokohama. This is the second generation of the Note. The concept of the car was showcased in the Geneva motor Show 2012 and was named the Nissan Invitation Concept car. According to us Nissan has done justice to the production model.
This is the second generation of the Nissan Note and focuses more on being a hatchback; the first generation was kind of a MPV. This second generation Nissan Note is a very dynamic looking car and fits in a segment above Nissan Micra. The cuts and curves are all futuristic. One thing to notice on the car design is a special mark on the side profile which the Nissan is calling the ‘Squash Design‘.
Note comes equipped some very interesting gadget named the “Around View Monitor.” What this system does is it has cameras and sensors which help in parking the car parallel and tight spaces and the company clams it to be first in the segment. According to the press release by Nissan the car is given a spacious interior which is beyond expectations for a car in this class. Nissan Note is powered by a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which produces 97 BHP of power which is close to what a 1.6 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers. Nissan also clams the car to return 25km/l which is pretty impressive.
The Japanese automobile giants has tried every bit to give the car an edge over its rivals like Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio to name a few. Nissan Note will be launched in Japanese Market in September is expected to launch in European market somewhere in early 2013.
Talking of its launch in Indian market, the Note will be placed above Micra in the segment of Honda Jazz. Now Honda Jazz has done just average in terms of sales and so is the Nissan India. If and ever launched in India expect the car to be placed in 6-8 lakhs bracket. We will keep an eye on the developments of Nissan Note for India, stay tuned to Car Blog India for all the latest updates.
