The launch of the Nissan Magnite is just around the corner with the price announcement expected to happens in a couple of weeks time. We have now come to know that select Nissan dealers have already started taking unofficial bookings for the Magnite. The booking amount is ranging from Rs 11,000 – Rs 25,000. Nissan will soon officially announce the commencement of bookings for the new Magnite sub-compact SUV, along with other details as well. But much is already known about the Magnite and here’s a quick recap about it.
Nissan Magnite Engine Options
Nissan will be offering two 1.0L petrol engine options under the hood of the Magnite. The lower-spec engine on the Magnite is a naturally aspirated B4D dual-VVT 1.0-liter petrol engine that produces 72hp and will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher-spec engine is the HRA0 turbo-charged 1.0-liter petrol engine that produces peak power of 95hp. This engine will come mated to either the 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox. These numbers are still not the best in class and the Magnite might be left wanting for some pace. Also, there will be no diesel engine on offer.
Nissan Magnite Variants
Nissan will be offering the Magnite in five variants in India – XE, XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O). The 1.0L naturally aspirated engine will be offered on all but the top-spec variant. Meanwhile, the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine will be offered on all but the base variant. Additionally, you can also opt for Nissan’s Technology pack which brings in features like wireless charging, air purifier, ambient mood lighting, puddle lamps, and JBL speakers on the top three variants only.

Nissan Magnite Price Expectation
As per a leaked document, prices for the Magnite will start from Rs 5.50 lakh and that already undercuts the base price of all other sub-compact SUVs. To give you a perspective, prices for the base-spec Kia Sonet HTE start from Rs 6.71 lakh. Then comes the Hyundai Venue E for a price of Rs 6.75 lakh and then the Tata Nexon XE for a price of Rs 7.00 lakh. The Nissan Magnite thus already undercuts the price of the nearest rival by a huge Rs 1.21 lakh. It even undercuts the entry-level price of most premium hatchbacks barring the Tata Altroz and that’s a huge plus point. Even at its top-end XV Premium CVT variant, the Magnite is only priced at Rs 9.55 lakh. And mind you, that’s the automatic variant.
