Nissan has been releasing official teaser videos in the last few days to create buzz around the launch of the updated Magnite on 4th October
In this post, I am comparing the Nissan Magnite facelift with the old model on the basis of all that we know so far. Magnite has been an instrumental product for the Japanese car marque in India in the last few years. In fact, it is the single contributor towards the overall domestic and export sales for Nissan. In fact, Nissan’s portfolio in India only consists of the recently launched fully imported X-Trail in addition to the Magnite. Hence, the compact SUV is carrying the burden of the entire brand on its shoulders. It was time for it to get a fresh look. Let us see what the facelift model will encompass.
Nissan Magnite Facelift vs Old Model – Design and Features
As is the case with all facelifts, the most prominent point of distinction between the new and the old models will be the exterior design. Also, we don’t normally see a significant shift in the exterior appearance. However, there will definitely be new elements like a tweaked headlamp cluster, a redesigned bumper, new alloy wheels, an updated tail section, a new rear bumper, etc. However, the overall demeanour will most likely be the same as the current version. Still, the differences will be enough to tell it apart from the outgoing model.
Similarly, on the inside, we will see the addition of some new-age amenities and a new interior layout. Also, the latest official teaser from Nissan suggests that we will get a new appearance for the cabin. It’s said the car will have as many as 20 segment-best features. These will include sporty dual-tone stitchings and colour for upholstery, premium dashboard design, updated door panels, a large central touchscreen infotainment display, steering-mounted controls and more. We hope that new features include ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM, automatic headlights and wipers.
Nissan Magnite Facelift vs Old Model – Specs & Prices
In terms of the specifications, I don’t have any reason to believe that we will see any changes. It will most likely continue to carry the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with and without a turbocharger. Complimenting these engines will be a choice between a manual or an automatic transmission. Hence, the engine-gearbox combinations will be carried over from the existing model. At present, the Nissan Magnite ranges from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.27 lakh, ex-showroom. We can expect a slight premium over these numbers for the facelift version.
My View
Nissan Magnite belongs to one of the most crowded automobile segments in India. The list of rivals includes the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and more. Hence, the Japanese car marque will need to put its best foot forward to make an impact. It plays the game of affordability. Now, it will need to ensure that it offers even more amenities are relatively affordable prices. That will be a recipe for success. More details will emerge on 4th October and the deliveries will commence the following day.
