Nissan to launch next-gen ProPILOT with AI-powered autonomous tech by FY2027, featuring lidar and Wayveโs adaptive AI for safer, smarter driving
Nissan has confirmed it will roll out its next-generation ProPILOT autonomous driving technology starting in fiscal year 2027. The upcoming system will include Nissanโs Ground Truth Perception technology. It combines next-gen lidar sensors and AI-based driving software from UK-based company Wayve.
AI-Powered Driving
Wayveโs AI Driver is designed to handle complex driving situations in a human-like way. Built on an embodied AI foundation model, it helps the system respond to unpredictable real-world conditions across urban and highway settings. The system can process massive amounts of real-world driving data, allowing it to adapt quickly and improve over time. This will give Nissan vehicles a long-term edge in autonomous performance. Wayveโs platform is also compatible across different vehicle types, accelerating Nissanโs ability to scale the tech for mass deployment globally. With this move, Nissan aims to push ahead in the race toward safer and smarter autonomous mobility.
