The much-awaited Nissan Kicks (Read More) is going to be unveiled in India on 18th October. We have the official photos now, but they are of the global Kicks with Left Hand Drive. The India-spec version does not look different from the global version but gets different features and a different engine. It is officially going to launch in India in early 2019, but the media drives and promotional activities will begin from December itself. We expect the prices to start from Rs 9.5 Lakhs and will go up to Rs 14 Lakhs, to take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.
The Kicks will be placed above the Nissan Terrano. Currently, Nissan is in bad shape in terms of overall sales. With the launch of Kicks, Nissan hopes to increase its share in the market. Moreover, if Nissan Kicks has to compete with Creta, it has to have a fully loaded feature list.

It is going to come with a 1.5 Litre petrol as well as 1.5 Litre diesel engine. The petrol engine makes 110 BHP of power and 150 Nm of torque. The diesel engine produces around 108 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque.
The diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and the petrol engine with a 5-speed MT and an optional CVT. The mileage approximated on the petrol engine is around 15 kmpl and that of the diesel engine is around 21 kmpl.
Other reports suggest that the India-spec Kicks will be based on Terrano’s platform and not the globally used V-platform. However, it will be more spacious and have more legroom than the Terrano.

The price expectations are around Rs 9.5 Lakhs to Rs 14 Lakhs. If the top-spec trim ends under Rs 14 Lakhs, then it undercuts the Creta by more than Rs 1 Lakhs. The same feature list and an undercutting price would provide a good competition to the Creta.
