Nissan and Renault are actively cooperating each other for their future plans in India. The very first evidence of their aggressive plans include the Renault Pulse hatchback, which is a restyled version of the Nissan Micra, scheduled to be launched at the 2012 Auto Expo.
A while back we had also reported of a sub-Micra small car based on Nissan A-Platform to be launched by both Renault and Nissan with their respective badges and styling, which is another important launch for both the brands. Interestingly the latest news clearly states that the two wish to dominate the market with a series of products.
Renault is soon going to launch its much awaited low cost Renault Duster in India and as per the latest Buzz, Nissan is also looking forward at coming up with a 5 seater SUV based on Duster’s platform. The Duster belongs to Dacia, a Romanian brand, which was later taken over by Renault. For the Indian market it will be launched in early 2012 and will be available in both petrol and diesel options.

Surprisingly these three plans are not the only ones down the line as it is also being speculated that by mid 2012 we might see a Nissan Sunny based sedan by Renault. This platform sharing strategy is quite economical as ones resources could be utilized by others and the infrastructure needed becomes less.
A similar route has been recently followed by Volkswagen and Skoda where the latter is planning to bring Skoda Rapid sedan based on Volkswagen Vento.
We really hope the plan works out well and benefits both Renault and Nissan.
