Nissan has launched the much awaited Nissan Evalia MPV in India and has kept the pricing competitive enough. To draw a conclusion on how justified the pricing of Evalia is, we have done a couple of comparisons of the same versus the competition such as Xylo and Innova. These cars will face a cut throat fight with the Evalia, but there is one more car which is ahead of the league and is doing pretty well. We are talking about Maruti Ertiga which is the best selling car in this segment and if Evalia really wants to attract better sales, it will have to outperform the Ertiga, so lets look at the battle of Nissan Evalia VS Maruti Ertiga.
Exterior Comparison
Let us begin with the Evalia. The design is very catchy with sleek headlamps, a nice overall profile and a stocky build. The body looks simple and has the relevant character lines. The mildly flared wheel arches look pleasant and the rear looks elegant too, though it has a very simple design. A unique feature of the car is the sliding rear doors, which earlier were seen on cars such as Omni, Eeco, Versa and the like.
The Ertiga looks more like the Ritz from the front, while the rear gets an all new design that looks great. Even the Ertiga has flared wheel arches and a strong shoulder line imparting a sporty appeal. If you go by the looks, the Ertiga could seem better to you as it looks more like a personal vehicle than a commercial vehicle. The Evalia, though designed brilliantly, lacks that look.
Nissan Evalia MPV Dimensions
- Length – 4400 mm
- Height – 1880 mm

Maruti Ertiga LUV Dimensions

Comparing the height and length of the two, the Evalia is significantly longer and taller, however the width and wheelbase of the two are at par.
Interiors Comparison

Evalia’s interior design is different and more practical I would say and the utilization of space is next to perfect. The dashboard is styled differently from other Nissan products and despite being huge enough, it looks sleek and compact. Some of the highlighting features are cup holders on either side, a dashboard mounted gear stick, a simple center console, Dual Airbags on front seats (except for base XE variant), Disk brakes at front and drum brakes at rear, ABS and EBD with Brake Assist, Engine Immobilizer, Rear AC Vents on XL and XV trims , Rear Monitor Camera on top end XV, 2 Din Integrated Audio system with AM/ FM/ CD support, Central Locking system and Keyless entry, Power Steering, Tilt adjust power steering, Tables at the back of front seats, Alloy wheels on XV trim and many more.

Pricing is one area where Maruti is always ahead of the competition. The Ertiga’s pricing starts at 7.3 lakhs and culminates at 8.6 lakhs. On the other hand, the Evalia way too pricier as the base model starts at 8.5 lakhs (10k less than the top end Ertiga ZDI) and ends at 9.99 lakhs. If you consider the features only, I would say both the cars are at par as they offer almost similar features. In fact the Evalia is just a little better than the Ertiga as it offers more comfortable seating, third row AC and others. But as per the pricing, the Ertiga is a better car and offers more value for money.
Car Blog India Verdict– Nissan Evalia Vs Maruti Ertiga
Well the Evalia is better in space and comfort and drives really well in city. The Ertiga is sportier, fuel efficiency, a tad more powerful and more value for money. So if you are family person who wants to spend a fair amount of money on a car then Ertiga is a great choice but you will not get the oodles of space offered by Evalia. But if you want a practical MPV, which other than serving your family, helps you in daily transportation chores as well along with long trips where you need to carry more people and luggage, then Evalia is a good car to own. We suggest you to take a text drive of both the cars before you book one of these.
