Nissan Evalia, the car which was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 by Ranbeer Kapoor which is similar to the Nissan NV200 is a 7 seater MPV aimed at the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo segment. This car was caught with the sticker “On-Test” on Bangalore – Mysore highway on 6th March 2012 doing rounds of road testing in India. The car had no camouflage material on it except for the badges were covered. This was presumably the production ready version of the car which looked exactly as the same Evalia displayed in the Auto Expo.
The Evalia on the road commands a high driving position and is roomier than any production MPV on Indian Markets right now. The test car also featured the same sliding doors which are huge and a tailgate which is top hinged similar to the Innova. What makes Evalia the car to look upon is its size, its specifically has the badge “made for India” it has high ground clearance and a high riding position which makes the driver feel safe and secure during travel.

The sliding doors, somewhat similar to what we see in the Maruti Omni, can be seen in this Evalia which adds huge practicality quotient to the cards, and a huge tail gate too. The car was spotted on the high ways, this displayed its zippy engine the same yet reliable 1.5L DCi is in the offering. With the right pricing this surely can take over Innova’s and the Xylo’s market share. With this Nissan aims for high volume sales.
Evalia is first MPV by Nissan for India and is a spacious vehicle which combines superior handling of a car with space of an MPV for large families and commercial commuting needs. Evalia is likely to be launched around August 2012 in India. NV200 is a quite successful as taxi in United States and is sold in some other international markets as well. Ashok Leyland is also coming up with an MPV based on NV200 which will be sold along with Nissan Evalia. Ashok Leyland’s MPV will be called Stile and same has been showcased by them at the Auto Expo in January 2012. We will keep an eye on the developments and will let you know of more details.
