The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is going to launch in India during the last week of November 2018. Maruti to attend to waiting the period of existing models first.
The launch of the next-generation iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is right around the corner. The Indo-Japanese automaker had earlier planned to introduce the generation update for this MPV in India during the second half of October this year.
However, according to recent developments, the company has apparently postponed the launch to a month ahead i.e. during the second half of November this year.
What is the reason behind this?
Maruti Suzuki is already struggling to meet the demand for its existing models. It has recently ramped up the production of the Baleno hatchback which even after a year of its launch, stands with a waiting period of more than 2 months. The Vitara Brezza sub-compact SUV is witnessing a similar case.
Maruti believes that launching the new Ertiga right at the peak of the festive season will put yet more strain on its production facility. This could in-turn further increase waiting periods for the existing models as well as the new one. Read More
The company aims at first clearing the existing backlog and then only introduce the next-gen Ertiga in our market.
The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is based on an all-new platform. This is Suzuki’s new HEARTECT underpinnings and is also used on the Baleno, Brezza, Ignis, Swift and the Dzire.

With its new platform, the Ertiga is now longer, wider and taller in comparison to the outgoing model. This has resulted in more space inside the cabin, something which buyers in the MPV segment primarily look for.
In addition to this, one other thing which the HEARTECT platform is going to facilitate is offering car-like driving dynamics to this 7-seater people carrier.
By design, the next-generation iteration of this MPV looks a lot more premium and muscular than before. Unlike the previous generation model, the new iteration boats of its own unique identity. And does not seem like a mere extension of the Dzire or the Swift.

With this generation update, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is also going to witness a sizable increase in its equipment list. The top-end trims will offer features like projector headlamps and automatic climate control. Other than this, it will also offer leather seats, LED daytime running lights and several such creature comforts.
In comparison to the older generation model, the new Ertiga will also score high in terms of its safety features. As standard, this MPV is going to offer dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors.

The engine specifications of the 2018 Ertiga are also going to witness a slight revamp. The MPV is now going to come with a new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This is is the unit which made its debut with the new Ciaz in India. Theis gasoline motor churns out 104 BHP of power along with 138 NM of peak torque. As standard, the people carrier will offer a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, the petrol engine is also going to come with a 4-speed torque converter unit.
We are expecting the prices to go up slightly. Our expectation puts the estimated price tag of the 2018 Ertiga in-between INR 6.5 lakhs to 10.5 lakhs.
