Toyota Fortuner is a prominent SUV in our market that is thriving after the departure of the Ford Endeavour from India.
The next-gen Toyota Fortuner digital concept gives us an idea of what the production-ready version could look like. Fortuner has a massive fandom in our country which is why it has been the top-selling SUV in its segment for years now. As a matter of fact, in its latest iteration, there are so many special edition versions of the SUV that the ex-showroom price for the top-spec GR-Sport is nearing Rs 50 lakh. We can only wonder what the next-gen model would cost.

Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner Concept
This design has been conceptualised by ia.dsgn and shared on Instagram. As soon as one lays the first glance at this concept, one can’t help but notice the resemblance with the Ford Endeavour. The front fascia has a massive grille with chrome inserts, sleek LED DRLs and LED headlights, an upright bonnet, sturdy silver skid plate, butch bumper design, chunky wheel arches on the sides, relatively subtle alloy wheels, chrome plate on the side body panel, side steps for easier ingress and egress, chrome frame around the window, roof rails and much more. The tail end of this concept, unfortunately, is not visible.

Specs
As far as the powertrain options go, Toyota might introduce some form of electrification to the existing engines. In its current iteration, the Fortuner comes powered by a 2.7-litre petrol unit (164 bhp / 245 Nm) and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine (201 bhp / 420 Nm). It is paired with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. With the automatic transmission, the torque produced is a massive 500 Nm with the diesel mill. There is plenty of off-roading equipment on offer to make it immensely capable in terrains without tarmac roads.

For the exact specifications and design, we will just need to wait a bit more as Toyota might eventually bring the next-gen model to our shores sometime next year. However, as mentioned before, we don’t expect it to be cheap by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, if Toyota equips it with more features (which it will), there could be a rather significant increase in the prices.
