Next-generation Renault Duster is going to be based on the same platform as its current iteration and will continue with the same engine line-up.
The compact SUV segment has seen quite a lot of activity recently. First, it was Hyundai updating the Creta with a facelift which was followed by the launch of the Kicks this year. That said, the vehicle which earlier used to be at the pinnacle of this space, in fact, the one which started this craze for urban SUVs, the Renault Duster has been left behind in the wake of new product launches. We have been waiting for Renault to upgrade the Duster for quite some time now, especially after knowing the fact that the same has already seen a major update in select international countries.
Earlier reports speculated that the next-generation of the Duster is likely to launch in India sometime during the festive season last year. However, that did not happen and here we are at the beginning of the year 2019. That said, recent reports suggest that Renault is soon going to launch a slew of new products in India. In addition to an all-new MPV to challenge the likes of Maruti Ertiga and a facelift for the KWID, these launches will also include the debut of the new iteration, the second generation update for the Duster.

During the first half of the year 2019, Renault is going to launch the said compact MPV which is based on the same platform as that of the KWID. This launch is likely to be followed by the debut of the facelift for the KWID and eventually, sometime around the festive season this year, we might see the arrival of the all-new Duster in our market.
As mentioned before, the next-generation Renault Duster is already on sale in select international markets. The changes that the new version gets are more of an evolution than a revolution. You still get a staunch exterior profile with wide haunches that are the wheel arches and a familiar yet more aesthetically appealing front and rear fascia.

The interior too has a slight hint of familiarity to it. That said, the layout is such that it inclines more towards the premium side of aesthetics in comparison to the earlier iterations rugged appeal. Expect the update for the Renault Duster to get a whole array of features and creature comforts in order to compete with the existing breed of feature loaded compact SUVs.
Engine line-up of the new Renault Duster will remain same as before by offering both petrol as well as diesel options. The petrol derivative is going to be a 1.5-litre unit with the diesel unit also being of the same capacity. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual unit for both the engine options.
