The next-gen Maruti Swift was spotting testing on the highway recently. I’m eagerly anticipating the buzz surrounding the facelifted version of one of India’s most prolific and successful vehicles. The recent Japanese Mobility Show unveiled the latest Swift, highlighting updates in its exterior, interior, and mechanical components. It’s still unclear whether these changes will make their way into the Indian model. The standout feature is unquestionably the hybrid powertrain, delivering an impressive mileage of approximately 30-35 km/l. However, there’s no definitive confirmation on whether the Indian version will feature the same powertrain. Let’s delve into the specifics of the facelifted model.

This latest post comes from autoxp95 on Instagram. It captures the Swift with a heavy camouflage. Even though the vehicle is under wraps, the silhouette gives away its identity. As a matter of fact, at one point in the video clip, this camouflaged version is being driven adjacent to the existing Swift. That makes it even more clear that the design language of the upcoming Swift won’t be all that different from the current model. Still, the visuals from the Japanese Mobility Show recently indicate that there will be minor aesthetic enhancements to the exterior of the hatchback. Similarly, the interior of the new Swift will be slightly more premium.

The most notable change involves the introduction of a new powertrain, marking a departure from the reliable K Series engine found in the Swift and other Maruti cars. The upcoming Z Series engine comes in multiple versions, with the one showcased at the Japan Mobility Show being a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder hybrid engine capable of delivering an impressive mileage of approximately 30-35 km/l. Although the power figure remains similar to the existing model, there’s a noticeable increase in torque, promising even more exciting low-end performance. It will be intriguing to see if Maruti decides to bring this engine to our shores. Regardless, the new Swift could signal a shift away from the current K Series engine.
