Interior spy images of the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio have surfaced on the internet for the first time and there’s a passing resemblance to the interiors of the WagonR. It will be way be more feature equipped than the current-gen car.
Maruti Suzuki has been testing the next-gen Celerio on our roads for quite some time and now, fresh spy images of the interiors of the next-gen Celerio has surfaced on the internet. The current-gen Celerio has been on our roads for six years now but it still continues to clock in some good sales numbers each month, irrespective of newer and modern competition. The second-gen Celerio is an all-new car from the ground up and not just a mere facelift. This second-gen model will boast of a completely new styling, inside and out.
These new spy images give us a first look inside the cabin of the new Celerio. Although the interiors too are heavily wrapped in camouflage, and it does not reveal the finer design details, we can immediately tell that the dashboard design is completely new. The center console is completely new with a touchscreen infotainment system taking its place in pride for the first time in the Celerio. In fact, there seems to be a passing resemblance with the interiors of the current-gen WagonR on the new Celerio.
The touchscreen system will feature Maruti’s SmartPlay infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The climate control knobs again look very similar to that of the WagonR. We however do not get a view of the instrument cluster on the new Celerio in these spy images but that too is expected to be heavily revised. In terms of other features, you can expect the new Celerio to come with a multi-functional steering wheel, multi-information display, electrically adjustable ORVMs, keyless entry, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and more.

The second-gen Celerio will sit on the Heartect platform, the same that underpins the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. We also know that the second-gen Celerio will be significantly bigger than the model it replaces. According to reports, it will have a longer wheelbase and a wider cabin and the increased dimensions can somewhat be made out from the spy shots as well. Details are scarce currently about the new Celerio but its safe to assume that it will share a lot of parts with other Maruti Suzuki cars.

There will be major updates under the hood as well. While the current-gen car is solely powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, the new Celerio will get two engine options just like the Wagon R. The 1.0-liter petrol engine will obviously be retained but there will likely be a more powerful 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine as well. Transmission options will continue to include the 5-speed manual and the AMT automatic gearbox as well. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio competes against the likes of the Hyundai Santro and Maruti’s own WagonR. However, with its increased dimensions, more powerful engine and a more spacious and feature equipped cabin, it could also give some competition to the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10.
