The next gen Hyundai Verna is ready to take on its rivals with generous legroom. Verna is a mid-size sedan that has always pushed the envelope with its cutting-edge technologies and bold styling. The last-gen model had a weak rear legroom which was the only pain point in the overall package. This time around, Hyundai has fixed that after recognizing that it needs to bring its A-game because the competition in the segment has grown considerably. Next Gen Hyundai Verna

Hyundai India has released the video via its official Twitter handle showcasing the sheer legroom on offer. The dimensions of the Verna are best in the segment at 2,670 mm of wheelbase and 1,765 mm of width. The video also confirms that the space inside the cabin has been enhanced significantly compared to the soon-to-be outgoing model. What helps that is the wide cabin enabling three people to sit abreast quite comfortably. Here is how it compares with its rivals.

In terms of exterior styling, Hyundai is again pushing the limits. There is a sleek LED lightbar that runs across the width of the sedan finishing in LED DRLs on either side atop the bonnet. There is a large grille finished in dark chrome under this LED strip which conceals the LED headlamps quite neatly. On the sides, the elegant and modern alloy wheels and sharp characteristic creases enhance the appeal. At the rear, the sloping roofline and textured C-pillars look sporty and sophisticated while the LED taillamps are connected via a thin strip of light. All in all, this new gen model is completely elevated compared to the existing one.

Specs

The new 6th gen Hyundai Verna will debut a new 1.5-litre GDi turbo petrol engine in addition to the existing 1.5-litre MPi naturally aspirated petrol engine in the lineup. The former will output the segment-best 160 PS and 253 Nm, while the latter makes 115 PS and 142 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The turbo petrol will offer either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT while the naturally aspirated petrol will come with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The prices will be revealed at the launch.
