Next-gen Hyundai i20 is reportedly under development and it has been spied for the first time. We can expect a new engine and some more features onboard.
Hyundai has already started testing the new Grand i10 and many spy shots have come up till now. Now, we get to know that the testing of the next-gen Hyundai i20 has commenced.
The premium hatchback was last updated in 2017, which gave some feature additions and mild cosmetic upgrades. We expect the updated hatchback to be seen in 2020, possibly at the Auto Expo.
Looking at the spy shots, we can say that the next-gen Hyundai i20 looks a bit wider. The length of the car will be the same and rest of the styling cues on the outside will also remain the same.

Inside the cabin, we can expect new upholstery, refreshed colours for the dashboard and mild feature additions. Although, the Elite i20 is already loaded with tons of features, making it the most feature equipped in its segment.
Importantly, the new Elite i20 would get the 1.0 Litre TurboPetrol engine from the Venue. A different variant, probably as a hot hatchback version of the i20 might be sold.
The new engine produces 120 BHP and 172 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCT. The engine on the i20 might not produce the same figures, but around 110 BHP.

Other engine options will be the same 1.2 Litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.4 Litre CRDi diesel engine. Hyundai has confirmed that it will continue with the smaller diesel engines after the BS-6 emissions as well.
Now that the competition has gotten even more fierce, Hyundai might not change the prices to much extent. The Hyundai Elite i20 competes with Toyota Glanza, upcoming Tata Altroz, best-selling Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
Currently, the i20 is priced aggressively, starting from Rs 5.5 Lakhs to Rs 9.31 Lakhs (Ex-showroom New Delhi).
