Volkswagen showcased its technical excellence in terms of automobiles technology and design with its display of the Volkswagen Beetle Bluemotion and Sport at the Auto Expo 2012. Along with the Beetle, the Volkswagen XL1 Concept with 111 KMPL of mileage and compact form factor attracted a lot of attention. Apart from these two excellent small cars, Volkswagen also showcased their new model 2012 masculine SUV Volkswagen Touareg 2012 in India at the Auto Expo 2012.

The V6 3.0l TDI engine with 245 PS is one of the efficient engines in the Touareg. In addition to having a fuel efficient engine, the new Touareg is now lighter and more aerodynamic thereby ensuring another step toward sustainability in the SUV segment.

The Touareg is the very first SUV in the world to carry an 8 speed automatic transmission gearbox as standard feature. The 7th and 8th gears are laid out as fuel efficient overdrive gears, thereby reducing emissions and saving fuel. Striving towards sustainability however does not mean compromise on power. With a strong output of 245 PS @3800 rpm and 550 Nm torque @ 1750 rpm and an acceleration speed of 0-100km/h in a mere 7.6 seconds, the new Touareg is a powerful SUV.

The new Touareg is now 41mm longer, 12 mm wider and comes equipped with 20 inch alloy wheels, roof rails, panoramic sunroof, bi xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. The new Touareg comes standard all wheel drive and in the sport mode it tunes the Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP) for off road duty , activates hill descent assist and adjusts shift points for the automatic gearbox allowing the driver to experience off road at its best.

Safety continues to be uncompromising at Volkswagen and the new Touareg comes fitted with six airbags, electronic stability control including ABS, ESP, hill start assist and hill descent assist and safety optimized front head restraints with longitudinal and height adjustments.
