Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the Sportivo variant of the new-generation Fortuner SUV. The new Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo has an ex-showroom price of Rs 31,01,500. It may be noted here that the latest gen Fortuner has been a huge success. Adding a new variant to the lineup should only help the new SUV consolidate its position in the market. Also, with the festive season at our doorsteps, the new variant should enable TKM find more buyers during this period of increased new car sales. Christened as the Fortuner TRD Sportivo, the new model should bring in many visual updates for the popular SUV. The new Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is based on the Diesel 4×2 AT trim.

Many of you might remember that even the last generation Sportivo offered a Sportivo variant. Akin to the earlier iteration, even the new model comes with a handful of styling updates and new features to make the SUV an even more attractive buy. Based on the 4×2 Diesel AT variant, the TRD Sportivo variant gets its juice from a 2.8-litre diesel engine that outputs a maximum power of 174 BHP and a peak torque of 420Nm. Chances are that the new Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will even get the 4×4 hardware at a later stage.
Like we have been saying, the new model comes with many visual upgrades that aim to make the car look more stylish. While there are many new bits to enhance the styling, there isn’t be any change in the car’s mechanicals. The new TRD Sportivo model of the Fortuner SUV is based on the 4×2 AT Diesel model. It has gone on sale at an ex-showroom price of Rs 31,01,500. The high price tag is not only because of the additional features but also because of the revised GST rates. The revision in GST for SUVs and Luxury Cars have made them significantly pricier. Earlier, prices of the Fortuner saw a huge cut due to the introduction of GST. However, with the Govt. suffering losses in revenues, tax rates have been revised and the Fortuner saw a significant increment in price.

New Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Exterior
The front-end of the Fortuner TRD Sportivo will get an updated bumper that looks more aggressive and will be complemented by a sporty grille. Of course, the overall effect will be made stronger by the sleek headlamps. The dual projector headlamps and LED fixtures and DRLs give it a premium look too.
In the side profile, the TRD Sportivo will have a new plastic cladding to give that beefy appearance. Even the alloys will be new and will measure 18-inch in diameter. Of course, other eye-catching features of the Fortuner, which include wrap-around taillamps, a well-pronounced shoulder line and chrome garnishing. At the rear, the car features a stylish set of taillights with LED fixtures and integrated reflectors on the bumper. Even here, the bumper will be updated to look more muscular. Akin to the regular model, the Sportivo measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,835mm in height. It boasts a wheelbase of 2,745 mm and has a and ground clearance of 225mm. On the inside, it gets a rather sporty interior setup. While we expect to some feature additions, it’s pretty much for sure that the special edition will have an all-black interior.
