Tata Motors has confirmed that it will be unveiling the production version of the Altroz in the first week of December, followed by the launch in 2020.
Tata is going to unveil the all-new Altroz hatchback this December and now the manufacturer has confirmed that it will be launched in January 2020. In the first week of December, Tata will unveil the Altroz in the production-ready version.
Tata showcased the Altroz recently at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, along with the Tata Harrier 7-seater (Buzzard) and the Tata H2X. The hatchback will go against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Ford Freestyle and Toyota Glanza.
So far, we have hints about its engine details, features, and some styling bits. It will be based on Tata’s new ALFA platform, which is a completely new and stronger platform. The same platform will also be used underneath the company’s upcoming micro SUV.

Tata Altroz will come with three engine options, two petrol engines and a diesel engine, all BS-6 compliant right from the start. The 1.2 Litre three-cylinder petrol unit from Tiago and the 1.2 Litre turbo-petrol unit from Nexon will power the Altroz. The 1.5 Litre diesel engine from Nexon will be the third engine option onboard.
The unit borrowed from Tiago produces 84 BHP and that from the Nexon produces 102 BHP. Putting a turbo-petrol engine in cars ranging around 10 Lakhs is the latest fad amongst the automakers. All the engines will come mated to the manual gearbox at the time of the launch. Later, the hatchback will come with an automatic transmission as well.
Inside the cabin, Altroz will get its styling bits borrowed from the Nexon as well as from the Harrier. Going by the spy shots, it is likely to get a flat-bottom steering wheel, a semi-digital instrument console and the centre console similar to what you find on Harrier.
