The new generation Skoda Octavia gets a CNG option for the global markets, which makes it the most practical sedan if headed out to India.
The new generation Skoda Octavia was introduced last year which got a lot of upgrades including cosmetic tweaks and new feature additions. Now, it has introduced the Octavia CNG variant which is the most practical 20 Lakh sedan. CNG variant is based on the existing version but with some mechanical changes.
The new technology known as G-Tec, is powered by a 1.5 Litre petrol engine that produces 130 BHP. The fuel efficiency of the Skoda Octavia petrol is 21.7 kmpl, which is yet a class leading figure. With the CNG kit, the sedan offers 27.7 km per KG. The CNG variant will produce 25% less CO2 emissions.

The CNG kit has three tanks in total which can hold up to 17.33 kilograms. Thus, the Octavia delivers a range of nearly 500 kilometres with the CNG. Additionally, it gets a 9-litre fuel tank which can give up to 200 kilometres of range. In total, the sedan will offer nearly 700 kilometres of range which makes it highly fuel efficient.
The new Octavia is anyways coming to the Indian market probably this year. If the CNG variant comes, it could be the most practical 20 Lakh sedan in India. You will get the premium quality of the Skoda but will miss out on the performance part. However, the said engine is said to be quite fun to drive.
Many manufacturers are considering CNG kits for their models just to make them more practical. Volkswagen and Skoda are also considering CNG cars as a couple of times, Vento and Polo have been spotted with it. Even Ford and Tata are working on offering more CNG cars in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Skoda is also bringing Kamiq and Vision SUV by the next year. Skoda recently launched the BS6 Rapid and Karoq as well. There are reports suggesting that the manufacturer is also working on a premium hatchback that will rival the Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo.
