Initially, the reports suggested that we might get the new-generation model of the famous mid-size SUV this year
The new Renault Duster, which was supposed to launch in India this year, has been delayed. We know that this model has already been launched in many international markets across the globe. However, the Indian launch was meant for this year. Duster is the moniker which led to the creation of the mid-size SUV segment in India. Thereafter, many prominent players launched their models in this space. Unfortunately, the Duster was discontinued in India back in 2022 due to low demand. At present, the competition in this segment is hardcore. It remains to be seen if the new Renault Duster will be able to snatch some market share away from the existing models.
New Renault Duster Launch Delayed
Note that the test mule was first spotted in November 2024 in our market. As per various sources, Renault India MD, Venkatram Mamillapalle, highlighted the French carmaker’s plans for 2025. It included the mention of the next-gen Triber and Kiger. Note that the Triber is among the most affordable 7-seat vehicles in the country, while the Kiger is among the most inexpensive compact SUVs. Together, they account for over 80% of total Renault sales in India. Hence, it is mandatory to keep up-to-date. However, there was also a mention of a new SUV for 2026. That is likely to be the new 3rd-generation Duster.
New Renault Duster
The mid-size SUV has already been launched abroad. Hence, we know what it will look like. This includes a butch stance with rugged elements. For instance, it gets Renault lettering on the grille flanked by tri-arrow LED DRLs integrated inside the LED headlamps and a rugged bumper with fog lamps on either side at the front. The side section contains pronounced wheel arches and side body cladding along with elegant alloy wheels, black side pillars and functional roof rails. Finally, the tail end encapsulates a unique roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna, a sturdy bumper and taillamps on the extreme edges of the bootlid. Even though the Indian-spec model could differ, most of these elements will remain identical.
The interior includes modern-day amenities like a chunky steering wheel with multimedia controls, a digital instrument cluster, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment display, tri-arrow-styled AC vents, a textured dashboard, physical buttons for HVAC, rotary drive mode selector, USB charging, a spacious cabin, hexagonal steering wheel, etc. There are options of choosing between a 1.3-litre turbo petrol mill, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine or an updated 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the Magnite. However, it remains to be seen what the Indian-spec version comes with. Let us keep an eye out for more details in times to come.
