The SUV segment of our automobile market is not as crowded as the small car and sedan ones but offers a complete range of cars suitable for every type of buyer. Whether it’s a high end Mercedes M Class or an affordable Tata Safari , in terms of price all sorts of SUVs are available.
A couple of months back the only car brand to make an appreciable attempt of offering a low end SUV was Premier Auto Limited with its ultra low cost Premier Rio. The car proved to be a tough competitor from the pricing point of view but comparison based on performance and luxury was never in the favor of the same.
The sales figures were extremely disappointing inspite of its very affordable price which has made the company to reconsider the car’s design cues which could be one of the reasons of its failure. So now the company is expected to roll out a face-lifted model of the Rio soon with a considerable changes on the exteriors as well as interiors.
As per sources one of the most important & speculated changes inside the hood of the car is the new BS IV compliant CRDI diesel engine. Other likely features include a redesigned front grille, tweaked bumpers and other styling elements that would make this car more distinguishable and attractive.
Presently with the BS III compliant engines the car is priced between Rs. 5.25 Lakh and Rs. 5. 95 Lakh and with the speculated engine replacement, the prices are expected to rise a bit.
