The old and new Hyundai Creta were spotted in a new commercial by the Korean auto giant. The facelift model will launch on January 16. Prior to that, Hyundai created this advertisement highlighting the accomplishments of the Creta moniker in our market. The first-gen Creta was launched in India back in 2015 while the existing model came into being in 2020. Hence, this model is already 3 years old. Finally, we will see the facelift pretty soon. Since it will just be a facelift, we don’t expect to see many changes in terms of features and powertrains. Still, it will get the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine already available with the Verna.

New and Old Hyundai Creta Spotted Together
This latest TVC comes from HyundaiIndia on YouTube. The Korean auto giant has come up with a video showcasing the legacy Creta has created in its over 8 years of existence. All this while, it has been the best-selling mid-size SUV in the country. As a matter of fact, its sales still remain strong even today. However, the competition is quite fierce now. Almost all major carmakers are present in this segment. Hence, Hyundai will ensure that it plays on its strengths. Therefore, we will see the new Creta with elegant styling, new-age features, top-notch safety functions and powerful engines. Needless to say, it could carry a lot of inspiration from its cousin, the Kia Seltos which got a facelift some time ago.

At present, Hyundai Creta provides three engine options – a 1.4-litre GDI turbo-petrol, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. These engines offer varying power and torque outputs, ranging from 115 PS / 144 Nm to 140 PS / 242 Nm. Depending on the model, transmission choices include a 6-speed automatic, IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission), 6-speed IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission), and 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). Currently, the official Hyundai website only displays information about the non-turbo petrol and diesel variants, possibly due to the upcoming launch of the facelift model. Prices start from Rs 10.87 lakh to Rs 19.20 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelift model would get the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol replacing the 1.4-litre unit. Author’s Note
Now, Creta is a nameplate which has enjoyed immense success in our market since its inception. The Korean car marque relies heavily on this single product for its dominance in our market. Therefore, it makes sense to update it as per the demand of the customers. Hence, we will see a more powerful engine, perhaps the ADAS safety features and the latest tech and connectivity amenities to ensure that the SUV pampers its occupants. An EV guise could also contribute to the overall sales in the space offering an alternative to the mighty successful Tata Nexon EV. Let us watch out for further developments in this space.
