The X-Trail comes with multiple powertrains abroad including a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid engine developing 209 hp and 525 Nm with e-Force 4WD (201 hp in 2WD version) and a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 160 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque (only with 2WD). There are automatic gearbox options all around. On the other hand, the Fortuner comes with a 2.7-litre 164 hp / 245 Nm petrol engine and a 2.8-litre 201 hp / 420 Nm (500 Nm with automatic gearbox) diesel powertrain. There are options of 6-speed MT and AT gearboxes.

On the other hand, the Toyota Fortuner features a redesigned instrument cluster, kick-to-open powered tailgate, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, 18-inches alloy wheel designs, and silver skid plates. On the outside, the 7-seater car features a smaller grille, new LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, fog lamps, tweaked front and rear bumpers, new 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, and revised LED taillights.
