New model Yamaha YZF R1 launched in India along with the R1M
India Yamaha Motor has silently launched the new model Yamaha YZF R1 and R1M in India. The new generation R1 is available in two colours – Racing Blue and Racing Red, and has a sticker price of INR 22.34 lakhs. The R1M, which is available only in Silver Blu Carbon, retails for INR 29.43 lakhs (All prices mentioned are ex-Showroom, New Delhi). Quite obviously, the new generation R1 bikes come to us via CKD-route. The latest R1s were unveiled at EICMA, Italy last year and are already on sale in many markets around the world.
Powering the new motorcycles is a liquid-cooled, parallel four-cylinder 998cc motor that belts out a maximum power of 200 PS @ 13,500 rpm and a peak torque of 112.4 Nm @ 11,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The new bikes are 2,055 mm long, 690 mm wide, 1,150 mm high and have a wheelbase of 1,405 mm. The bikes are built around an aluminium deltabox frame.
Where the new R1M differs from the R1 is in its race-ready nature. The R1M is designed for racetrack usage and comes with various carbon-fibre bits and additional electronics. The R1M also has a seat height of 860 mm, which is a full 5 mm more than the R1. Also, while the R1 has a 190/55 spec tire for its rear wheel, the R1M gets 200/55 spec rubber.
